Vision Scotland : Everything you need to know
Nothing is more important to Vision Scotland than patient care and wellbeing – and you will see this from your very first consultation until well after your surgery.
As you would expect from a private clinic, we are able to offer exceptional levels of aftercare to ensure your road to recovery is swift and comfortable – and that you always have the support you need.
Surgery only takes a matter of minutes but you should expect to stay with us for a few hours. You will be able to see again straight after surgery but it will be blurry for at least a couple of days before you start to enjoy your new and improved vision. To protect your treated eye we will ask you to wear a clear plastic shield for up to 24 hours following surgery.
As part of your bespoke aftercare package, you will be given information on what to expect during your recovery at home – as well as advice on what do if you are worried or have any concerns. You will have your Vision Scotland surgeon’s phone number as well as around the clock access to our patient care team.
For complete peace of mind, it is worth remembering that your package price is inclusive of any follow up appointments required as a result of your surgery. Our optometrists are also available if you need reassurance that recovery is going to plan.
As well as advice and support, you will also have all the medication you need to recover quickly – we will usually prescribe antibiotic drops for a week and steroid drops for a month. After the first couple of days of blurry vision, you should notice a slight improvement every day for a couple of weeks until your eye fully heals and you are back to your old self, with new and improved vision.
