Vision Scotland today announced the launch of their first Graduate Apprenticeship Programme.
As leaders in Scotland’s healthcare sector, Vision Scotland are dedicated to shaping the future of their industry through education and hands-on experience.
By offering apprenticeship opportunities which can include studying as part of their further education, Vision Scotland will be able to offer applicants of any age immediate employment opportunities. The organisation, based in Edinburgh, is working in partnership with Napier University to recruit for Graduate Apprentices in Healthcare and candidates can apply for the opportunities on apprenticeships.scot.
Supported by Skills Development Scotland (SDS) and the Scottish Funding Council (SFC), Graduate Apprenticeships help businesses fill critical skills gaps and upskill their workforce.
Designed in partnership with industry and higher education, Graduate Apprenticeships are a way for individuals to get qualified up to Master’s degree level while in paid employment, working in key sectors that need highly skilled employees. Graduate Apprentices spend most of their time learning on the job while being supported by a structured higher education programme. For employers, Graduate Apprenticeships can help businesses fill critical skills gaps and upskill their workforce.
Victoria Beesley, Commercial Director of Vision Scotland said ‘Society is changing, and we have to ensure that Vision Scotland is at the forefront of opportunities such as this. Healthcare can be difficult to recruit into, and we have to look at ways of attracting, upskilling and retaining our staff. Recent research indicates that companies supporting employees’ educational goals experience higher job satisfaction, increased loyalty, and enhanced retention rates. According to the Lumina Foundation Report, companies with educational benefits boast a remarkable 94% retention rate among participating employees.
The Society for Human Resource Management highlights that 82% of employees believe that employers supporting their educational aspirations are more likely to retain talent and build loyalty. Deloitte Research also reveals a 37% surge in employee engagement and a 29% increase in company loyalty when investing in employee education and development.’
Diane Greenlees, Director of National Training Programmes at Skills Development Scotland said: ‘Apprenticeships provide businesses with a solution to meet workforce challenges and help to fill skills gaps in key sectors such as Healthcare. Graduate Apprenticeships not only help employers get the skills needed for now and the future, but widen access to degree level qualifications through the option to work, learn and earn’
Scott Killen, Graduate Apprenticeship Delivery Manager at Edinburgh Napier University “Since their launch in 2017, Graduate Apprenticeships have proven to be a game-changer for many businesses across Scotland. By combining work-integrated learning with academic study, they allow employers to recruit, train, and develop talent from the ground up, tailored to their specific needs. Work-integrated learning allows apprentices to gain essential skills required for their job role and develop their soft skills – such as communication, problem-solving, self-confidence and initiative. At Napier, our graduates are already making a significant impact to both their employers and Scotland’s economy. Graduate Apprenticeships are fully funded and provide paid employment, meaning employers can also create a more inclusive and diverse workforce by attracting candidates who may not pursue traditional university routes
